Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar joined her girl gang to celebrate her father, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar’s 80th birthday in Mumbai. The milestone was celebrated with a grand gathering at Akhtar’s farmhouse, surrounded by family, friends, and Bollywood stars. While numerous pictures and videos from the celebration have made their way online, Zoya also shared a special moment from the day, showing her enjoying time with her close friends.

Taking to her Instagram handle on Tuesday, Zoya shared a group picture, seemingly captured at Javed Akhtar’s farmhouse. While The Archies director took the centre spot with a bright smile while posing for the camera, she was joined by Farhan Akhtar’s wife Shibani Akhtar; director Reema Kagti; creative director Avan Contractor; model Bhawna Sharma; casting director Nandini Shrikent; director Ruchi Narain and others.

“Le Gang #mydadsbirthday #girlgang #daypartiesarethebest,” Zoya captioned her post.

The filmmaker did not forget to give the picture credits to her brother, Farhan Akhtar. Baar Baar Dekho director Nitya Mehra also got a special mention in the post, owing to her absence from the picture. “Yaaaaa what the hellllll!” she reacted in the comment section.

Prior to this, Zoya shared another priceless video from the celebrations where singer-music composer Shankar Mahadevan teamed up with Aamir Khan and Farhan Akhtar to perform the Dil Chahta Hai title track. In the video, the trio sang the track, enthralling audiences with the musical evening. “Happy Birthday Pa,” the caption read.

With Aamir Khan playing the lead role in Dil Chahta Hai, Farhan Akhtar was the director, whereas Javed Akhtar composed the soundtrack and the background score, thus explaining the choice of song for the occasion.

Javed Akhtar’s wife, Shabana Azmi, organised an intimate birthday for the screenwriter-lyricist on Friday (January 17), which was attended by many of their close friends from the industry. Urmila Matondkar, Vidya Balan, Tanvi Azmi, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and others marked their attendance at the celebrations. Speaking on the same, the 80-year-old Javed Akhtar revealed that he preferred a quiet gathering. “I was at my farmhouse. I didn’t want my birthday to be a big affair. I called some close friends and family over.” Akhtar also shared that he considers his children, Farhan and Zoya, as the “best gift” of his life, as per Hindustan Times.
