Zeenat Aman recently took to Instagram to share a heartwarming glimpse into her relationship with food, revealing that despite never learning to cook, she has always ensured food was on the table for her family.

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman opens up about her food habits, love for home-cooked meals, and why she never learned to cook.

Zeenat Aman’s latest Instagram post is a delightful mix of nostalgia, personal anecdotes, and a glimpse into her everyday life. The veteran actress, known for her grace and candid storytelling, shared a carousel of pictures, revealing her relationship with food and an interesting confession—she never really learned to cook.

The first picture in her post shows her peering into her fridge, followed by images of her daily meals, and finally, a throwback shot from the 1980s where she was photographed doing household chores for a magazine shoot. The actress, however, made it clear that the cooking image was purely staged.

“A completely contrived picture of me ‘cooking’ was once published in a magazine in the 80s. I quite sportingly posed for it, but the truth is the most I can do in the kitchen is boil an egg for Lily,” she wrote, adding that despite this, food has always been an important joy in her life. Fortunately, her younger son grew up to be a talented chef who occasionally spoils her with home-cooked meals.

Zeenat credited her mother for instilling simple eating habits long before nutrition and wellness became social media trends. “Food is fuel, and long before nutritionists and dietitians and personal trainers were in vogue, my mother instilled a simple credo—eat small, eat fresh,” she shared. Embracing the digital culture of sharing food habits, she went on to describe what her daily meals look like.

Her mornings begin with a cup of black tea and a bowl of soaked and peeled almonds. For breakfast, she usually enjoys a smashed avocado on sourdough toast with cheddar cheese, though she sometimes switches to desi flavors like chilla or poha.

Lunch, she revealed, is her “heaviest meal of the day” and usually consists of dal, sabzi, roti, and other accompaniments. On this particular day, she was enjoying tangy khatti dal, matar aloo in hara masala, paneer tikka, and a homemade tomato chutney.

Her evening snack is a bowl of roasted makhana, lightly spiced and prepared daily by her trusted assistant, Aijaz. “Crunchy, light… and nutritionist-approved!” she noted.

The highlight of her day, however, is indulging in something sweet. Zeenat admitted to having a soft spot for desserts and is currently obsessed with Royce chocolates. “I could demolish the box in one sitting, but I attempt to keep it to two squares at a go!” she confessed.

Ending her post with a reflective moment, Zeenat addressed an insecurity she once had about not knowing how to cook. “I used to feel embarrassed that I can’t cook food, but then I reminded myself that I’ve been putting food on the table for my family since my teens! That’s something too, right?” she wrote, inviting her followers to share their favorite healthy treats and go-to delivery services.

On the professional front, Zeenat Aman is set to appear in the film ‘Bun Tikki’ alongside Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol, directed by Faraz Arif Ansari and produced by Manish Malhotra.
