Tomlinson was recently spotted attending Malik’s Stairway to the Sky tour at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, where the performer gave a sweet shoutout to his former One Direction bandmate. In a video circulating on the internet, fans noticed Tomlinson standing on the balcony, patting his chest after Malik honoured Payne during his performance. Reports claim that Malik dedicated What I Am and Alienated to his former group member.
In the video, in between the show, a fan recorded Malik saying, “So tonight’s kind of special, an old friend of mine is here to support me tonight. He’s sitting somewhere here, I don’t want to give his location but Louis’ here tonight.” This left the attendees excited and could be heard cheering loudly witnessing the unexpected reunion.

In another video from the performance, Zayn Malik is seen pointing towards the sky while singing and looking towards Louis Tomlinson. The footage then shows Tomlinson patting his chest, remembering Liam Payne, who tragically passed away in October 2024 after falling from the balcony of CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This emotional moment further left their fans emotional and happy, seeing One Direction members’ close bond.

This was the first public appearance of Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson together since they both attended the funeral of their late One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, in November. The funeral, held in Buckinghamshire, England, was also attended by Niall Horan and Harry Styles.
Malik had earlier delayed his Stairway to the Sky tour following Payne’s death. While there were initial speculations suggesting substance abuse as the cause, BBC has now confirmed that Payne passed away due to polytrauma, which involves multiple injuries affecting different organs or systems.
About Liam Payne’s death, five individuals in Argentina have been charged. The charges include hotel manager Gilda Martin, receptionist Esteban Grassi, Payne’s friend Roger Nores, hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra, and waiter Braian Paiz, all accused of supplying drugs.
