Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer-influencer Dhanashree Verma have reportedly finalised their divorce, ending their marriage of over four years. The couple, who first connected virtually during the Covid lockdown when Chahal enrolled in Dhanashree’s dance classes, completed their legal separation at Bandra Family Court on Thursday. Reports suggest they had been living apart for the past 18 months.
In early 2024, the duo appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, The Ranveer Show (TRS), where they shared insights into their love story. Dhanashree recalled her first interaction with Chahal, saying, “I used to watch cricket before, and when I stopped watching, I think he made his debut for India. So, when he messaged me about dance classes, I had no idea who Yuzi Chahal was. I’m very professional that way, so I took him as a student. He was sincere—practicing every step I gave and sending videos asking where he could improve. That decency is what I loved about him.”
She went on to describe Chahal’s straightforward approach to their relationship, adding, “The way he was with me as a student, the way he was with me as a friend, and the direct approach… who does it? Nobody! I think it’s become very easy for everyone to explore options in life, like there is no limit. He was straight up that, ‘I want to get married.’”
Amid reports of their divorce being finalised, both Chahal and Dhanashree shared cryptic posts on Instagram. Chahal’s post read, “God has protected me more times than I can count. So I can only imagine the times I’ve been rescued that I don’t even know about. Thank you, God, for always being there, even when I don’t know it. Amen.”
Meanwhile, Dhanashree reflected on faith and resilience, posting, “From Stressed To Blessed. Isn’t it amazing how God can turn our worries and trials into blessings? If you’re stressing about something today, know that you have a choice. You can either keep worrying, or you can surrender it all to God and choose to pray about everything. There is power in having faith that God can work all things together for your good.”
