Ranbir Kapoor has locked Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 for Ramayana Part 1 and Ramayana Part 2.
Yash to start shoot for Ramayana soon?
Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi starrer Ramayana have been grabbing headlines ever since it was announced. Well, the film will see many popular stars in different roles. However, a fresh report from Filmfare is coming in that Yash will start the shoot for the film in March. He will be playing the role of Ravana.
The entertainment portal has quoted a source saying that Yash will join the shoot of the movie in March. The KGF star was introduced to the movie by Namit Malhotra while discussing other ideas.
Recently, in a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Yash discussed the future of the KGF franchise and confirmed his role in the upcoming epic film Ramayana. Yash said, “If the character is treated like a character… if this doesn’t happen today, then the film won’t happen. To make a film with that kind of budget, you need those kinds of actors to come together.” He further stated that he was drawn to the role of Ravana due to the character’s complexity and depth, describing it as “the most exciting character” he has been offered in his career.
Yash revealed that his involvement in Ramayana came after discussions with Namit Malhotra of DNEG and Prime Focus. Their shared vision for the film convinced him to sign on for the role, and he even decided to co-produce the project. “It’s a very fascinating character… there’s vast scope to present it in a very different way,” Yash said.
Ramayana will feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with pre-production already in full swing. A leaked picture of Ranbir and Sai in their costumes recently went viral, sparking further speculation about the film, which is expected to release in 2025.
Ranbir Kapoor has locked Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 for Ramayana Part 1 and Ramayana Part 2. The film’s first poster has been released along with the release date. Ranbir plays the role of Lord Ram. The two-part films are directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The release date was confirmed by Prime Focus Studios’ Namit Malhotra.
Besides Ranbir and Yash, the film stars Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara.
