Yadgir City Municipal Council (CMC) has planned to hold Janaspandana twice a week to hear public grievances and dispose of applications submitted by citizens seeking facilities and necessary approvals involved in civic works.
The CMC was functioning in a small building in a complex for a period of one year. After the inauguration of its own building, it recently shifted and started functioning there.
“When the CMC was functioning in a congested building, works related to the public were obviously delayed. Now, we have shifted to the new building and decided to hold Janaspandana to address public grievances and expeditiously dispose of applications submitted by the people seeking civic-related works and also, government benefits,” Chairperson of CMC Lalita Anpur told The Hindu.
Citizens submit applications for property-related works like change of khata, mutation, building construction permission, drinking water, sanitation and also, applications seeking benefits under various government schemes.
“The CMC has sufficient staff in all departments. Therefore, the chairperson, the commissioner and engineers of the departments concerned have decided to conduct Janaspandana to dispose of applications or files expeditiously,” she said.
The CMC has been initiating efforts to keep the city clean. It has pressed into service a number of vehicles to collect garbage from houses in every ward under its limit.
“Citizens, traders and business establishments have not paid taxes for property and water for the last many years. Being a chairperson, I want to request them that they pay their taxes that have remained due and extend cooperation to provide better service to the people,” Ms. Anpur said.
