The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), in collaboration with the Education Department and local police authorities, has launched targeted awareness campaigns in schools across the State. A highlight of this initiative is the formation of four specialised teams dedicated to conducting awareness programmes in educational institutions.
Each of these teams is composed of two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), two Inspectors, a psychologist, and additional support staff, including a tracker dog to demonstrate live drug detection techniques. The teams are further equipped with a mobile van fitted with LED screens to showcase educational videos and motivational content aimed at informing students about the dangers of substance abuse.
The campaigns were carried out across 20 schools in the tri-commissionerates of the twin cities. Over 10,000 awareness books in Telugu and English were distributed, along with sports materials and posters. The programme also includes live demonstrations with tracker dogs to instill a sense of vigilance among students. The campaign educates students on how to identify and report drug-related concerns, providing them with contact details of de-addiction centres across the State.
The Bureau has urged students, parents, and citizens to support the mission by reporting any instances of drug abuse through its toll-free number 1908 or Control Room number 8712671111. Reports can also be made via email at tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in, with assurances of strict confidentiality and suitable rewards for valuable contributions.
