Will Smith knows how to make headlines and his latest appearance at the Premio Lo Nuestro Awards in Miami has certainly got people talking. The Hollywood star went on stage alongside Spanish singer India Martínez and delivered a steamy performance that had fans both mesmerised and scandalised. Their undeniable chemistry topped off with an apparent on-stage kiss, has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many questioning the nature of their interaction. And of course, given the ongoing intrigue surrounding Will’s unconventional marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith, the internet had a lot to say.
The Fresh Prince star joined India Martínez for a duet of First Love and things got up close and personal. As the pair swayed together in rhythm, the crowd’s cheers only fuelled the energy between them. Towards the end, he seemingly shared a kiss with the Spanish singer which has become a talking point across social media.
The comment section of India’s Instagram post quickly witnessed several opinions. Some found the moment uncomfortable, criticising Will’s behaviour as out of line. “This is the worst,” one person wrote bluntly, while another added, “Inappropriate, even if it is entertainment.” Others couldn’t help but compare the scene to a bad karaoke night. “It’s like someone’s dad’s on karaoke with a drunk local woman,” a user wrote. Another wasn’t impressed either, simply commenting, “How embarrassing.”
But not everyone was outraged – some fans defended Will, encouraging him to enjoy himself. “Will is living life and I love to see it,” one wrote. Another added, saying, “Go ahead, Will! Live your life, bro!”
Some pointed out that, as an actor, on-stage intimacy is part of the job. “This man is an actor and has kissed plenty of women who are not his wife. He is a paid entertainer – this is legit his job.” “Let that man live. He’s been put through enough,” another supporter commented. And of course, the inevitable comparisons to Jada Pinkett Smith made their way into the conversation. “Jada better let Will Smith have his fun,” wrote one user.
Will’s latest on-stage antics come against the backdrop of his complex and unconventional marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith. In 2023, the couple shocked fans by revealing they had been separated since 2016, but despite that, they’ve never officially filed for divorce. According to People, they’re in an unusual arrangement – “Call it what you want,” one source said, adding that while they have “had separate homes for years,” they still consider themselves connected.
Reports suggest that Jada has her own house near Will’s in California, with both working on redefining their relationship.
