Bobby Deol is currently enjoying the release of his much-anticipated crime-thriller web series, Aashram Season 3 Part 2. Directed by Prakash Jha, the show has captivated the audience with its compelling storyline ever since its premiere in 2020. Bobby has received immense love for his character of self-proclaimed Godman Baba Nirala. However, during a recent interview, the actor revealed undergoing major stress and also suffering a vertigo attack thinking of the audience’s response, ahead of the show’s release in 2020.
In a conversation with Filmfare, Bobby noted that Aashram was his first project wherein he played a negative character and he was very conscious. He said, “I remember the day I was promoting, I got a vertigo attack because I have vertigo issues and I guess I was nervous, scared as to how people will take me playing a character like this.”
He went on to explain that an actor’s weakest quality is the brainwashing that they frequently receive from those around them. He said this makes artists doubt themselves, and they don’t believe in their own abilities and desires. This is when they make decisions that are essentially an easy way out for them. The actor, however, felt that portraying Baba Nirala was not an obvious choice for him.
For Bobby, Aashram was in a way making a debut again since the character and genre was very new for him. He admitted that he was anxious because actors can watch their movies before the audience, however, the same is not possible with web shows, and thus he viewed Aashram along with the rest of the country.
He revealed that he didn’t even tell his parents about his role in Aashram as he was worried about how they were going to react. Nonetheless, Bobby took the leap of faith because he believes that an actor is a person who portrays a character that exists in the real world rather than one that he is.
In the end, Bobby Deol recalled receiving praise from his family, including Prakash Kaur, Dharmendra, and Sunny Deol, which made Ashram’s success even more special for him. “It felt like a dream. My mom would tell me that her friends called her every day, praising my performance in the show,” he added.
