The long-awaited Supernatural reunion is finally happening, but this time, in a whole new show. Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Jensen Ackles are coming together once again for the fifth and final season of Amazon Prime Video’s hit series, The Boys. This reunion is extra special because it brings the trio back with showrunner Eric Kripke, the mastermind behind their previous show. While details about their roles are kept under wraps, Padalecki and Collins will make a guest appearance and are confirmed to share scenes with Ackles. For Supernatural fans, this is a dream come true moment, as they’ve been eager to see the trio together again since the show ended in 2020 after 15 successful seasons.
The news was shared on The Boys’ official social media page with a fun video featuring the three actors. The clip starts with Ackles saying, “Hey Jared, we got work to do, again.” Padalecki quickly agrees and says “Okay, I’ll tell Misha. Misha, we got work to do.” When Collins hears the news, he gets excited, but gets confused and asks, “What are we doing?” In the caption, the team wrote, “Season 5 just got a bit more supernatural.”
Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys, has often talked about the possibility of bringing Jared Padalecki into the series. In an earlier conversation with Variety, he mentioned that he has been in touch with Padalecki, but he was unsure “if it’ll be a one-episode guest spot or something bigger.”
He said, “We’re still trying to figure out what would be the best role for him. But I’m gonna bring in Jared. Everyone says you’re collecting your Supernatural Pokemon, but the truth is, I love him and you try to work with people that you love and it makes the job more fun. And I just love those guys.”
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles were part of Supernatural for all 15 seasons, while Misha Collins stayed for 12 seasons. Ackles and Padalecki played Dean and Sam Winchester, two brothers who hunt demons and other supernatural creatures. Collins played Castiel, an angel who helped the Winchester brothers in their battles against evil forces.
