Anupam Kher is celebrating his 70th birthday today, March 7. He decided to mark this special occasion in a profoundly meaningful way, far away from the glitz and glamour of grand celebrations. The veteran actor, instead of throwing a lavish party, chose to spend his birthday in Haridwar, embracing both simplicity and spirituality.
Dressed in a traditional, embroidered white kurta-pyjama paired with a colourful stole and Rudraksha mala (neckpiece), Kher was seen distributing food to sadhus outside a temple. A video of the moment has been widely circulating on social media, capturing the actor’s act of service. And he was not alone. Kher was accompanied by his dear friend and fellow actor Anil Kapoor. He could be seen standing next to the birthday boy.
For the occasion, Kapoor kept his look casual in an all-black outfit and chic sunglasses. The two, along with a few others, could be seen lovingly distributing food on the occasion of Kher’s birthday. While the latter distributed kheer (rice pudding), Kapoor gave some kind of sabzi (vegetable dish).
Meanwhile, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, Kher put up a post on his Instagram account, celebrating his special day. In the post, he reflected on both his professional as well as personal life and even posted a video capturing all the iconic characters that he played in his career of over four decades.
He wrote the caption in Hindi, which, when translated to English, reads: “Today is my birthday! 70th! The man who played a 65-year-old role in movies at 28 and then mostly played characters older than his age, his youth has begun now! How age is just a number, I am the perfect example of it. Please send me your wishes and blessings! I came to Haridwar came with Maa, friends and family members! This birthday is special to me and will be celebrated in full Sanatani way! Jai Maa Gange! Har Har Mahadev! #HappyBirthdayToMe”
Speaking of his work front, Kher was last seen in the historical drama Emergency, based on the Emergency in India. The film featured Kangana Ranaut as the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi and Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan. Released on January 17 after plenty of delays, the film also featured Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Choudhry, Milind Soman and Satish Kaushik, among others.
Currently, the veteran actor has Tumko Meri Kasam, The Raja Saab, The Delhi Files, Metro…In Dino, and more, in the pipeline.
