Violent Agitations Of The Past Replaced By Movements For Books, Culture, And Sports In Assam: CM Sarma

Guwahati, Jan 13: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday stated that the violent agitations of the past have been replaced by positive movements focusing on books, culture, and sports in the state. Speaking at the National Youth Day event organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Sarma highlighted the state’s progress and growing recognition, including its recent inclusion in The New York Times list of “top 52 global destinations” for 2025.

Sarma praised the government’s efforts since taking office in 2021, aiming to make Assam one of the top states in India. He expressed optimism that the state’s youth would be instrumental in leading Assam to greater global recognition.

The Chief Minister also addressed the controversy surrounding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), rejecting claims that it would allow illegal Bangladeshi immigrants into Assam. Sarma asserted that the government has been effectively pushing back infiltrators at the international border.

Encouraging the youth to drive positive change, Sarma invoked the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing that Assam, once plagued by instability, is now progressing with renewed energy inspired by his principles.
