After dominating the box office, Vicky Kaushal’s period action drama Chhaava is now set to captivate Telugu audiences. The makers have unveiled the film’s official Telugu trailer, heightening excitement for its regional release. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, the historical epic stars Vicky as the fearless Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film is slated to hit Telugu cinemas on March 7.
The makers shared the trailer on Instagram with the caption, “A grand spectacle of courage and glory now in Telugu !#Chhaava Telugu trailer out now! #ChhaavaTelugu grand release on March 7th by #GeethaArtsDistributions.”
The film is an official adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s acclaimed Marathi novel of the same name, which narrates Sambhaji’s relentless struggle to protect his kingdom from Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s invasions. Vicky Kaushal has received widespread praise from both fans and critics for his powerful portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, embodying his courage and unwavering commitment to Swarajya (self-rule).
The film also stars Akshaye Khanna as the formidable Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, the devoted wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and Viineet Kumar Siingh as Kavi Kalash, a key figure in Sambhaji’s life.
The Telugu version of the film is being presented by Geetha Arts Distribution.
Talking about the film’s Hindi collection, on its third Sunday, the film minted a whopping Rs 24.30 crore, which took its overall three-week collection to Rs 471.56 crore Nett India, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Chhaava emerged to be Vicky’s highest-grossing film of his career and the numbers aren’t looking to slow down anytime soon.
Recently, Vicky expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the fans for showering their love on Chhaava. Sharing a still from the film, he wrote on Instagram, “No more an ‘Unsung’ Hero! Thank you, everyone.”
Meanwhile, Vicky will be next seen in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama film Love and War co-starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. The film will be hitting the theatres in March next year. Apart from that, he also has Maddock Films’ next Mahavtar wherein he will be seen as Chiranjeevi Parshuram.
