Vardhaan Puri, grandson of Om Puri, recently collaborated with Kaveri Kapur, daughter of veteran director Shekhar Kapur, for a romantic comedy film, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story. The film, directed by Kunal Kolhi, was released on Disney+ Hotstar on February 11. During a recent interview, Vardhaan opened up about sharing screen space with debutante Kaveri Kapur, where he recalled a brief ‘awkward’ moment between them after their first on-screen kiss in the film. However, he added that they quickly moved on and focused on their acting performance.
During an interview with ETimes, Vardhaan admitted that he and Kaveri Kapur had to execute a difficult kissing scene. He shared, “After we kissed for the first time, things became a little awkward between us for about two or three minutes.”
However, both actors dealt with it like professionals. They addressed it and decided not to overthink about it or allow it to affect their performance as it was a part of their job. Even director Kunal Kohli joined in and tried to lighten the mood. He said, “Welcome to films! Sometimes you have to do such things and then forget about them.”
Vardhaan also reflected on the unique connection he shared with Kaveri Kapur before they met. He found it a pleasant turn of fate that the grandson of Amrish Puri and the daughter of Shekhar Kapur would work in a romantic film.
Later, Vardhaan praised Kaveri for her personality and skills. Given her distinguished family history, he noted that he knew that Kaveri would be gifted but collaborating with her surpassed all his hopes. In addition to being a fantastic co-star, he lauded her as a very wise and sincere individual, calling her ‘ten times better’ than he had anticipated.
Vardhaan added that he could see definite traits of Kaveri’s parents, Shekhar Kapur and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, in her, which made working with her feel like a natural fit. He said that because they both hailed from families that were huge movie buffs, their common interest made them easier to connect.
