Urvashi Rautela explained that she was caught off guard and was unaware of full details of the attack on Saif Ali Khan.
Urvashi Rautela hit the headlines last week after she faced flak for her comments about Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s attack. While condemning the attack, the actress shifted the conversation to discuss expensive gifts that her parents had given her after the success of her film ‘Daaku Maharaaj’. She flaunted her diamond-studded Rolex and other jewellery, which many found tone-deaf and insensitive. She then apologized on Instagram, but later deleted the post. Now, in a recent interview, Urvashi explained that she was caught off guard and was unaware of the full details of the attack on Saif Ali Khan.
While speaking with Filmfare, Urvashi Rautela said that the question about Saif Ali Khan caught her off guard because the attack happened at 4 am, and she had an interview the next morning while she was still processing the news. “I think I should have been way more careful with the way I answered. I have to admit that I should have answered it more carefully. Also, the incident happened at 4 am (Saif’s attack), and very next day my interviews happened at 8 am. So, I was completely kind of clueless. All I remember is that when I was waking up someone told me, he got hurt. I don’t know the intensity of how he got hurt. I wasn’t aware of the intensity of what all has happened with him,” she said.
She said that she kept bringing up her film Daaku Maharaaj as the interviews were lined up to celebrate the success of her film. She also admitted that the excitement about her parents’ gifts caused her to go off-topic, and that it was a moment of misplaced enthusiasm rather than an attempt to ‘show-off’. “I came back to my film Daaku Maharaaj because the interviews were to celebrate its success. Unlike what some people think, I was also not referring to that daaku (intruder) as a maharaaj. I love my parents; I feel they are my god. I got a bit too excited with the kind of gifts I got. Hum Hindi mai bolte hai na, josh mai hosh kho dena. Wahi hua mere saath. But show off toh nahi tha. Kyunki agar show off hota toh main chhoti si mini watch nahi dikhaati. (Like we say in Hindi, I lost it in the passion, that’s what happened. It was definitely not show off. Because if it was, I wouldn’t have shown a small mini watch),” said Urvashi.
What Did Urvashi Rautela Say About Attack On Saif Ali Khan?
In an interview with ANI, Urvashi was asked to comment on Saif’s situation. While expressing concern, her remarks veered towards showcasing her luxury items. Referring to the attack at Saif’s Mumbai residence, Urvashi said, “It is very unfortunate. Now Daaku Maharaaj has crossed ₹105 crore at the box office, and my mother gifted me this diamond-studded Rolex, while my father gifted me this mini watch on my finger, but we don’t feel confident wearing it outside openly. There is this insecurity that anybody can attack us. Whatever happened was very unfortunate.”
For the unversed, Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder who allegedly broke into his Mumbai residence on January 16. The actor suffered multiple injuries, including one near his spine and another on his neck. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgeries.
