Actor-influencer Shenaz Treasury was dropped from a brand deal amid the Ranveer Allahbadia controversy, diverting attention from India’s poor air quality.

Shenaz Treasury said she lost a brand deal due to India’s Got Latent controversy.

Influencer-actor Shenaz Treasury has claimed that she has been dropped from an almost-finalised brand deal amid the Ranveer Allahbadia controversy. Calling the incident ‘upsetting’, Shenaz said that she is mad at Ranveer for taking away the limelight from discussions around poor air quality in India.

“I was going to join hands with a platform – a marathon platform. They were offering equity. Following the Allahbadia controversy, they (the brand) called me and dropped me from the project which is very upsetting. They said they can’t afford to have celebrities or influencers because look what happened with Allahbadia. If you say something, then someone will come and shut us down. This is a big loss. Brands are being a little wary right now,” Shenaz told Moneycontrol.

She added that the India’s Got Latent controversy shifted the conversation from India’s poor air quality, which was widely discussed in Nikhil Kamath’s viral podcast with American millionaire Bryan Johnson.

For the unversed, Ranveer Allahbadia recently appeared on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, when he asked a contestant alleged inappropriate questions. “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?” he was seen asking a young contestant.

The incident left many shocked and in no time, a video of Allahbadia from the episode also went viral on social media. A police complaint was lodged against Ranveer, Samay and other co-judges present on the episode, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija.

Meanwhile, the internet stands divided on the Ranveer Allahbadia controversy. While comedian-writer Varun Grover is of the belief that Ranveer’s Beer Biceps YouTube channel should have shut long ago, music composer Vishal Dadlani called the outrage “nonsense”, adding that there are several other pressing issues that need more focus at the moment.

Recently, a visibly emotional Samay Raina also reacted to the controversy during his live show at the Myer Horowitz Theater in Edmonton, Canada. He closed the night by saying, “Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon (Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember, my friends—I am time itself).”
