Two college students died on the spot and 21 persons suffered injuries when the private bus they were travelling in overturned near Chengapalli in Tiruppur district on Thursday (February 6, 2025) morning.
The driver of the bus, bound for Erode from Tiruppur, reportedly lost control of the wheel while attempting to overtake a lorry.
The deceased college students were identified as Periyasamy and Harikrishnan. Five of the injured passengers admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Perundurai sustained severe damage to their limbs.
The Uthukuli police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
