Kurisilapattu police arrested two persons for razing a farmers’ house and his crops over property dispute near Tirupattur town on Wednesday.
The arrested persons — K. Chinnaraj, 51, and B. Perumal, 57 — were relatives of the key accused, M. Mahesh Kumar, 35, who absconded.
The police said farmer S. Natarajan, 57, and his brother S. Muniratinam bought four acres of land in Agaram hamlet under Kurisilapattu village panchayat in Tirupattur in 1998. The land was divided between the two after their father’s death.
Muniratinam passed down his portion of the land to his son Mahesh Kumar before he died a few years ago. However, Natarajan objected to this and laid claim to the entire property.
Mahesh Kumar went to the court, which approved his claim over the portion of land he inherited. Subsequently, along with Chinnaraj and Perumal, he demolished Natarajan’s house and destroyed his farmland using an earthmover
No one was in the house at the time of the incident, the police said.
Based on a complaint by Natarajan, the police filed a case. A special team has been formed to nab Mahesh Kumar.
