It looks like there’s some serious tension brewing between two famous Meghans. On Thursday, Netflix released the trailer for Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle show, titled With Love, Meghan. While many of her loyal followers cheered, Meghan McCain — daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, wasn’t exactly thrilled about it. “I was originally a Meghan Markle supporter. … Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy, what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored,” McCain posted on social media, seemingly pointing out Markle’s transition from royal duties back to life in North America.
McCain didn’t hold back, adding, “All of this even in the trailer is highly curated, produced and out of touch. … We are a country in rage, uncertainty and intensity right now.” The political commentator didn’t stop there. “This concept is ill-advised. I would have told her to do a show helping bring fresh food to food deserts in low-income neighbourhoods. Do something to help people instead of your ego. This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone-deaf to the moment,” she said.

McCain’s rant seemed to not only take aim at the show’s tone but also highlight the growing financial struggles Americans face, especially around grocery prices. Additionally, it subtly referenced the shocking incidents in the country, such as the explosion outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel and a devastating vehicular attack in New Orleans that left several dead, informs HuffPost.
The Netflix show deal, which was announced after Markle stepped down from her royal duties, is said to centre around topics like cooking and gardening. In a 2020 statement to The New York Times, she and her husband reportedly shared, “Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us.”
Earlier this week, Meghan Markle made her return to Instagram, kicking off 2025 with her first post on January 1. However, her comeback hasn’t been smooth sailing. Despite disabling comments on her debut post, online critics didn’t hold back and took to platforms like X and Reddit to share their opinions.
It’s safe to say that Meghan Markle’s latest ventures are far from controversy-free.
