Tahira Kashyap, actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife stepped into the Bollywood space last year. She made her directorial debut with the film Sharmajee Ki Beti. Tahira has for long been known for her bold and unfiltered opinions. In the latest, Tahira spoke up about the stereotypes of being a Bollywood actor’s wife. She expressed that while she is quite confident about herself, people should remember that not every person is the same.
In the most recent episode of In the Ring with Filmfare, Tahira Kashyap was asked about a few Bollywood wives-related stereotypes she has broken. She stated, “ I don’t think I have adhered to anything to break anything. But one thing was there, one stereotype was there that if you are an actor’s wife, you have got to be an interior designer. For some reason I was like why, I was like listen I am someone’s wife but I am sadly not an interior designer. That was a cliche, but of course a lot of women are all of that now, but I am talking about 5-6 years back.”
Moving on, she also noted how many perceive that most Bollywood wives are thought to be shopaholics but for her, “it’s a headache, very honestly I hate shopping.” She added, “Every woman is different and every woman is not into the same mold that you think.”
Moreover, she was also asked about going through cosmetic surgeries. Tahira stated that not just people on screen but many others off the screen also tend to go through this procedure and it’s alright as long as they are happy. She further expressed, “For me I have never taken any pressure of clothes, makeup. This is the least of the pressures that I will take. I don’t take myself too seriously, I don’t know what’s that niche or carve or mould for a star wife.”
Work wise, Tahira Kashyap wrote and directed the film Sharmajee Ki Beti which is presented by Applause Entertainment and produced by Ellipsis Entertainment Production.
