
The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday said it was taking steps to bring the mortal remains of a man hailing from the State, who was killed during a shoot-out in Jamaica last December.
An official release said the State government would bear the expenses.
Vignesh, a native of Tirunelveli district, was employed at a supermarket in Turks and Caicos Islands in Jamaica. He died during a shoot-out by robbers on December 18, 2024.
On a request by his family members, the Commissionerate of Rehabilitation and Welfare of Non Resident Tamils had been coordinating with the Indian diplomatic mission in Jamaica and his employer company to bring his remains to India.
The State government was also coordinating with the employer company to get the compensation.
The autopsy of the deceased was conducted on December 30.
