Sushmita Sen says she wants to get married but needs to find someone ‘worthy’ of marriage. Read on to know what she shared.
Rohman Shawl and Sushmita Sen were in a romantic relationship.
Sushmita Sen recently interacted with fans during an Instagram Live session, where she candidly spoke about her views on marriage. While answering fan questions, the former Miss Universe revealed that she had attended a wedding in Jaipur. This led one of her followers to ask about her own wedding plans.
In response, Sushmita expressed her desire to get married but spoke about the importance of finding the right partner. She said, “I also want to get married. Milna chahiye na koi shaadi karne layek. Aise thodi hoti hai shaadi. Kehte hai na, bohot romantic way mein toh dil ka rishta hota hai. Dil tak baat toh pahunchni chahiye na. Shaadi bhi kar lenge.” (There should be someone worthy of marriage, right? Marriage doesn’t just happen like that. As they say in a very romantic way, it’s a bond of the heart. The feeling should reach the heart, right? Then I’ll get married too.)
For those unaware, Sushmita was previously in a relationship with IPL founder and former chairman Lalit Modi. Back in 2022, Modi made their relationship public with a series of pictures from their Maldives and Sardinia vacation. He referred to Sushmita as his “better half” and even updated his Instagram bio to reflect their relationship, calling her his “partner in crime.”
However, rumours of their breakup surfaced within months when Modi removed Sen’s name from his bio and changed his profile picture. In a 2023 interview with Mid-Day, Sushmita addressed their short-lived romance, referring to it as “just another phase.”
Recently, on Valentine’s Day, Lalit Modi introduced his new partner on social media. Sharing a video, he wrote, “Lucky Once – Yes. But I got lucky TWICE. When a 25-year friendship turns to LOVE. It happened twice. Hope it does for you all too. #happyvalentinesday to you all.”
Sushmita, who has always been vocal about her independent approach to life and relationships, has not publicly reacted to Modi’s Valentine’s Day post. However, her statement during the Instagram Live session suggests that while she remains open to marriage, she believes it should happen at the right time and with the right person.
