Congress district vice-president Sumesh Achuthan has accused Power Minister K. Krishnankutty of working for Tamil Nadu even when 40,000 acre paddy farmland in the district is facing a drought threat.
Tamil Nadu has reduced the water being released from Aliyar Dam causing a shortage of water reaching the Chittur river, he said. “This issue can be addressed very easily by reducing Kerala’s water going to Tamil Nadu. But Mr. Krishnankutty does not have the courage to do so. He is too loyal to Tamil Nadu,” said Mr. Achuthan.
He warned that if Kerala does not get the required water in time, hectors of paddy cropland would be destroyed.
