State’s rich folk arts to be on display at Janapada Jathre in M.M. Hills on Feb. 21

Preparations are on for Janapada Jathre where the rich folk art forms of the State will be showcased at the famous M.M. Hills in Chamarajanagar district on February 21.

Chairing a meeting here, Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag gave directions to officers concerned to make all necessary arrangements.

“The folk art forms will be showcased under one roof. The idea behind the event is to bring forth the rich folk traditions and provide a platform to the artists,” said Ms. Nag.

This is a state-level event, and M.M. Hills has been chosen to host it. The opportunity that the district got has to be well utilised, she said.

More than 40 art forms identified from across the State will be on display during the jathre, and as many as 500 artists are expected to be present for the performance. The remuneration to the artists will be credited into their bank accounts the same day of the event, the DC said.

All arrangements are in place for the event, including accommodation for the artists, she added.
