YSRCP Mahila wing president Varudu Kalyani has alleged that the State government is not acting even as there are a spree of cases of rape and murder of women in the State.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Ms. Kalyani alleged that at least two to three of attacks on women were taking place in the State every hour. “The State government had allowed belt shops indiscriminately. Liquor is available 24X7 in the State. The attacks on women are increasing due to the government’s policy to encourage liquor sales,” she said.
Ms. Kalyani said though ganja is transported from Agency areas through the Assembly segment represented by Home Minister V. Anitha, the latter was interested in rooster fights rather than protection of women. She demanded closure of 50,000 belt shops in the State.
