Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s son Konark Gowariker tied the knot with Niyati Kanakia, daughter of real estate mogul Rasesh Kanakia, on March 2 in Mumbai. Their grand wedding ceremony was followed by a star-studded reception, which was attended by the who’s who of Bollywood. Sonali Bendre, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, Kiran Rao, Gayatri Oberoi arrived in style for the wedding reception.
Sonali Bendre was seen arriving with her husband Goldie Behl. The actress looked gorgeous in a grey and silver silk saree, and she accessorized with a silver necklace and a matching shimmery handbag. Goldie Behl was seen in a navy blue kurta and white pajama. Meanwhile, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia were all smiles as they arrived for the reception. While Genelia donned a dark green bandhani saree with a maroon blouse, Riteish looked dapper in a black bandhgala set.
Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Kiran Rao was also spotted arriving with Ira’s husband Nupur Shikhare. She looked chic in a white shirt paired with a printed skirt. For the unversed, Ashutosh Gowariker is the creative genius behind epic Hindi films like Lagaan, Swades, Jodha Akbar and others. His son Konark tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Niyati Kanakia, daughter of renowned real estate tycoon Rasesh Babubhai Kanakia.
While Ashutosh Gowariker is known for crafting cinematic masterpieces, his elder son Konark has carved a niche of his own in the world of cinema. According to his LinkedIn bio, Konark has completed his studies at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai. Then, his passion for cinema took him across the globe to Boston’s Emerson College, where he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Direction and Cinematography.
Upon his return to India in 2013, Konark joined Ashutosh Gowariker Productions as a director’s assistant on Everest before joining in as director’s assistant and co-producer on Mohenjo Daro. More recently, Konark helmed AGPPL’s latest production, Toolsidas Junior, as co-producer. Moreover, he directed a bunch of online commercials.
