SM Entertainment recently introduced Hearts2Hearts, their newest eight-member girl group, debuting with the single The Chase on February 24. Featuring members Jiwoo, Carmen, Yuha, Stella, Juun, A-na, Ian, and Ye-on, the group has already generated significant buzz, as it marks SM’s first girl group launch since aespa. However, amid the excitement, member Ian has found herself at the center of controversy, facing serious allegations of bullying and harassment.

An anonymous individual has come forward, claiming to be a former classmate of Hearts2Hearts’ Ian and accusing the idol of violent behaviour during her middle school years. The allegations include involvement in “sexual harassment towards teachers” and an incident where Ian allegedly threw a rock at a boy and broke a fish tank.

While many fans expressed disbelief over the story, citing intentional targeting of new debuts with SM, the agency has now also taken a strong stand against the malicious rumours.

In a stern-worded statement, SM Entertainment confirmed taking legal action against the spread of fake information and defamation of the group and their artist. “We have identified the circulation of false information, defamatory remarks, and malicious content targeting our artists Hearts2Hearts. In response, we have initiated legal procedures to address these violations,” the statement read as per Soompi.

The agency asserted that the creation and spread of unverified rumours and manipulated claims violate the law, and thus they are determined to take strong legal action “without any leniency or settlement against such illegal activities.”

Hearts2Hearts’ Debut

Earlier this month, SM Entertainment launched their newly formed girl group Hearts2Hearts. While the group debuted with the title song The Chase, it soon followed up with the B-side, Butterflies. Veteran hitmaker Kenzie tapped in for the Korean lyrics, while R&B trio Flo came in for the composition of The Chase. For Butterflies, the group switched to a mid-tempo R&B track.

With Hearts2Hearts already catching fans’ attention, SM seemingly hopes to expand its global fanbase, positioning the group as their next big player in the K-pop market. However, it is yet to be seen how ongoing rumours about Ian could impact her career and the group’s future.
