Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force has been running exceptionally well at the box office.

Akshay Kumar’s recent outing, Sky Force, is seeing a successful run at the box office. The film released on January 24, 2025. Just a week after it hit the theatres, Sky Force is on the verge of crossing the Rs 100 crore figure at the domestic box office. Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force saw a 60% jump in earnings on its second Saturday. According to Sacnilk, the film made Rs 5 crore, bringing its total to Rs 94.5 crore. It’s expected to cross Rs 100 crore soon.

Released on January 24, the film benefitted from discounted ticket prices, earning Rs 12.25 crore on its opening day. Its first weekend saw a big increase, with Rs 22 crore on Saturday and Rs 28 crore on Sunday. However, it dropped 75% on Monday, making only Rs 7 crore. Positive word-of-mouth helped it maintain steady earnings throughout the week.

Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur, Sky Force also stars Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur. The action drama film is centred around India’s first airstrike, the Sargodha airbase attack of Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965. In 1971, the Pakistan Air Force suddenly attacked on Indian airbase over the Kashmir conflict. In retaliation, the Indian Air Force captured a Pakistani pilot, Ahmed. Upon interrogating him, Wing Commander K. O. Ahuja discovered that he was awarded for killing an Indian officer in the 1965 war. What follows next forms the crux of the story. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja (fictionalisation of Om Prakash Taneja VrC). Meanwhile, Veer Pahariya as T. Krishna Vijaya “Tabby” (fictionalisation of Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya MVC).

News18 Showsha review of the film reads, “At 2 hours 5 minutes, Sky Force makes for a crisp and taut screenplay that rarely drops pace. Kudos to the director duo, who seamlessly blend in their individual instincts and style, never once making you wonder that there are two captains sailing the ship! The film is bereft of melodramatic dialogues about desh bhakti or contrived sequences aimed to evoke sappy sentimentality. The makers manage to strike a fine balance between realism and cinematic flamboyance and they deserve brownie points for the same.”
