Diljit Dosanjh has faced social media backlash ever since he talked about India’s lack of proper concert infrastructure during his Dil-Luminati tour in Chandigarh last year. The singer stunned his fans when he said that he would not perform in India unless the facilities for live events improved. Now, Euphoria’s lead singer Palash Sen has reacted to his remarks.
Talking to India Today, the singer called Dosanjh’s comment “truly unfair” towards a country that “has made you a superstar”. He stated that his band Euphoria has performed live concerts since 1998 and were one of the first bands to do so in India. Palash Sen believes that the concert scene has evolved significantly since Euphoria started. “We were a part of that transition, so it is easy to sit in another country and criticise. You have to be a part of that change,” he added.
Palash Sen explained that he loves Diljit Dosanjh as an artist, but what he said about concert facilities in the country was “truly unfair.”
“Please do not speak such things about the country that has raised you to superstar status. You need to be grateful. It is quite simple to throw stones. All event managers work extremely hard. Of course, things may always be improved, and certain elements are missing as agreed. But we all have to work together. You can’t sit there and blame the authority.”
The controversy around Dosanjh’s comments began at his concert in Chandigarh when the Born To Shine singer said that the country does not have the infrastructure to support live shows. Calling such shows a “big source of revenue”, Diljit Dosanjh said that he would try to get the stage positioned in the centre next time so that the audience can surround it. The singer vowed to not perform in India until facilities for live shows were improved.
Earlier, singer Javed Ali had also reacted to the G.O.A.T singer’s remarks. He told ANI, “We receive so much affection wherever we go. In our country, artists are treated with great respect. I don’t believe such love exists elsewhere. It is crucial to be respected at home. No matter where you go, you will not find the same joy. I adore my country.”
Talking about Palash Sen, the singer recently collaborated with Akshay Kumar on a spiritual song Mahakal Chalo, which received good responses from fans.
