It’s time for Shrek fans to celebrate, as the next installment to the franchise is all set to hit the screens. A teaser for the film has been released, providing a glimpse into the venture and revealing which actors will voice the characters. The film features the voices of Mike Meyers has portrayed Shrek, Cameron Diaz has returned as Fiona, and Eddie Murphy has voiced the character of Donkey as they reprise their roles. Apart from that, Zendaya has joined the franchise.

While the teaser has created a buzz, fans can expect Shrek 5 to release in theaters on December 23, 2026. The teaser shows Donkey asking the magic mirror who is the fairest of them all, resulting in a delightful scene in which Shrek, Fiona and Zendaya’s character, who is revealed to be their daughter, watch the interaction. Pinocchio also appears, chiming in with one of his characteristic nose-growing pranks, adding to the humorous tone. The caption reads, “Far Far Away’s Finest are coming.”

Zendaya’s addition to the franchise came as a surprise for most Shrek fans. Zendaya has many upcoming projects like Dune: Messiah, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, the fourth Spider-Man film, and the third season of Euphoria. Last year, she appeared in Luca Guadagnino’s well-regarded tennis drama Challengers, as well as Dune: Part Two. Her involvement in Shrek 5 adds a fresh touch to the film.
