The responsibility of educators is not just to impart knowledge but also to nurture responsible, ethical, and empathetic individuals who will contribute positively to society, said Bishop of Nellore Rev. M.D. Prakasam.

He was speaking during the concluding session of a two-day seminar titled ‘Leading People into the Challenging Modern World of Education’ at the Andhra Loyola College on Saturday (January 25). The seminar brought together 72 participants, who addressed critical challenges and explored opportunities in modern education.

Advocate Romy Chacko, a Supreme Court lawyer, delivered a talk on the rights of educational institutions, offering a detailed analysis of the legal framework and constitutional provisions that safeguard the autonomy of minority-run institutions.

The talk was followed by a session on the POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Law, presented by members from Project CACA (Children Against Child Abuse). The speakers, Pradeep and Annie Namratha, stressed the importance of timely intervention, robust reporting mechanisms and the creation of child-friendly environments within institutions.

The seminar also included a session on mental health and well-being, led by another member from Project CACA. Addressing the growing mental health challenges faced by students, the member, Pratibha Malhotra, emphasised the need for early intervention, fostering open dialogue and integrating mental health education into school curricula.
