Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer Thandel is all set to release on 7th February, and the actors have been busy promoting the film directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Recently, a pre-release event of Thandel was held in Hyderabad, and it was also graced by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Several videos from the event have gone viral on social media, and one of them shows Vanga revealing how Naga Chaitanya’s real-life style of long hair and beard inspired the lead men in his films Kabir Singh and Animal.
A video from the pre-release event of Thandel shows Sandeep Reddy Vanga saying in Telugu, “For some reason, even without knowing certain actors personally, you feel a special inclination towards them, and Chaitanya is one of them. In reality, the way you dress and even the way you drive your Lamborghini – I asked my costume designer to take references from your real-life outfits for Kabir Singh and Animal. Meanwhile, at the same event, Sandeep Reddy Vanga also mentioned that he wanted to cast Sai Pallavi in his directorial debut film Arjun Reddy. He said that he found a coordinator from Kerala, who he later learnt wasn’t really one. “I spoke to him saying that I have a story about a guy who is destroyed in love. It’s a very romantic story also. I want to cast Sai Pallavi as a heroine in my film. He said, ‘What is the romantic quotient in Arjun Reddy?’ I said, ‘It is more than what we usually see in Telugu cinema’. He said, ‘Sir, forget about it. The girl will not even wear sleeveless. Forget about it,’” said Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Telugu film Arjun Reddy, which released in 2017, stars Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles. Meanwhile, Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, was the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy. Animal, which released in 2023, starred Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
