Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu joined megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari, actor Vikrant Massey for the third edition of Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan, to champion the cause of road safety. During the event, Samantha Ruth Prabhu talked about the importance of road safety, and also addressed the common notion about women being bad drivers.
Speaking at Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2025, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was asked what message she would want to give to people about road safety and awareness while travelling. She replied, “I think that it all starts with self-reflection. We are always fearful of abiding by rules, not getting caught. But I think it’s time for a moment of self-reflection as to ‘are you doing the right thing for yourself, your family?’ I think it’s time for us to value life a little more than we do.” When asked about the common notion about women being bad drivers, Samantha initially expressed surprise, saying, “Is that a thing, really? I hear it but I really haven’t seen the proof of it.” She then countered the stereotype by highlighting that women are great at multi-tasking, which actually makes them better drivers!
“Women are great ta multi-tasking so they are probably very good at focusing on the road as well,” she said. Check out the video below!
She was then asked whether she drives, to which she replied, “Not well. So, I choose not to.” When asked what irks her the most about road safety, she mentioned that cutting lanes and excessive honking are the most frustrating. “Definitely cutting lanes and honking. I don’t see that in any other country. Not so much as I see it here. I think that road etiquette is something that…just because you can drive, I don’t think you should be on the road. You should also have a certain amount of driver etiquette,” she said.
