The Bombay High Court has granted bail to two men accused of conspiring to attack Salman Khan.

Two accused have been granted bail in Salman Khan Assassination Plot Case

On Friday, February 7, 25, the Bombay High Court granted bail to two men arrested last year in connection with an alleged conspiracy to kill Salman Khan near his farmhouse in Panvel. In a recent development, the High Court has granted bail to the two individuals allegedly linked to the assassination plot, reportedly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

According to reports, Justice N R Borkar granted the bail applications of Gaurav Bhatia alias Sandeep Bishnoi and Waspi Mehmud Khan alias Wasim Chikna on February 6, 2025 due to insufficient evidence. The court observed that aside from their presence in a WhatsApp group where the alleged assassination plot was discussed, there was no significant evidence linking the duo to the crime.

The court stated, “Except this, no recovery of incriminating material has been found against them. Even the WhatsApp chats are vague.”

The defense contended that the allegations were fabricated for media attention, highlighting that co-accused Deepak Gogoi had already been granted bail by the sessions court in 2024. They further argued that Vaspi and Gaurav had no ties to the Bishnoi gang and were not involved in the conspiracy.

According to Navi Mumbai Police, the two men, along with other suspects, were accused of conducting reconnaissance at Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse, his Bandra residence, and several film shooting locations last year. Following the investigation, a case was filed against 18 members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for allegedly conspiring to assassinate the Bollywood superstar.

For the uninitiated, two members of the Bishnoi gang had opened fire outside Salman Khan’s Bandra apartment earlier in April 2024. The FIR named several key figures, including gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently jailed in Ahmedabad for a separate case, his absconding brother Anmol, as well as Sampat Nehra, Goldie Brar, and Rohit Godhara.

Police revealed that one of the accused had contacted a Pakistan-based individual to acquire AK-47 rifles for the planned attack. The suspects allegedly intended to regroup in Kanyakumari before escaping to Sri Lanka.
