
Bandra Police will reportedly submit the chargesheet in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case by March end. The accused is currently in judicial custody.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder in an alleged robbery attempt at his Bandra residence, on 16th January. Now, as per the latest update in the stabbing case, the Bandra police will reportedly submit the chargesheet in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bandra by March-end. According to the law, the police must file the chargesheet within 60 days since the suspect’s arrest.
Free Press Journal quoted a police offer saying, “We have many positive reports and ample evidence.” The accused, Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam, fled the scene after the attack, but was arrested on January 19. He is currently in judicial custody and incarcerated in Arthur Road Jail. As per the report, the police believe that the case against the accused is strong enough to procure a conviction. Last month, the Mumbai Police had conducted an Identification Parade (IP) at the Arthur Road jail in connection with the attack on the actor. During the identification parade, Saif Ali Khan’s staff – Eliyamma Phillip and house help Junu were present, and they identified the accused. The police also said they have evidence linking the accused to the crime, including CCTV footage and a positive facial recognition test.

Following the knife attack, Saif Ali Khan was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries. He was discharged from the hospital on January 21.
