Reports of SC/ST legislators visiting New Delhi to meet the Congress high command are false, said Minister Satish Jarkiholi in Hukkeri on Tuesday.
“There have been some media reports stating that Dalit community leaders are planning to visit New Delhi to meet senior leaders to discuss party issues. These are false and baseless. Has any leader from these communities openly announced such plans? Who said anything about any visit to Delhi? I have no idea about it. If we are to go, we will announce it well in advance,” he said.
Responding to queries about some followers of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar demanding that he becomes the Chief Minister, Mr. Jarkiholi said there was nothing wrong with this. “It is natural for followers to demand that their leader become the CM,’‘ he said.
On why he should not be CM, Mr. Jarkiholi said he had no such ambitions at present. “I want to be in the race for the 2028 elections. I have said it earlier too,’‘ he said.
To another query, Mr. Jarkiholi said he would prefer a holy bath in the rivers in his neighbourhood, rather than a visit to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
