Relief given to legal heir of woman who died of head injury at State Seed Farm

Law Minister S. Regupathy handed over a cheque for ₹3 lakh, given under the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund, to the legal heir of K. Jayalalitha, 40, who died of head injury which she sustained after her sari got entangled in a machine while working at the State Seed Farm at Vellalaviduthi in Gandarvakottai taluk in the district.

The accident occurred on February 21 when Jayalalitha of Sangamviduthi village was injured on the rear-side of her head and was referred to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital where she died on February 26. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed his condolences to the family members of the woman and ordered relief of ₹3 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. 

Following the Chief Minister’s instruction, Mr. Regupathy, accompanied by Pudukottai Collector M. Aruna, met the bereaved family members and handed over a cheque to the legal heir, an official release said.
