New Arunachal armed group’s members told to come overground

Almaya Munnettam, the rebel group of lay people in the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese of the Syro-Malabar Church, has alleged that the St. Mary’s Basilica in the city was attacked on Monday (February 10), and that a group of people had disconnected as many as 25 CCTV camera cables.

The group termed the incident as an attempt to create “disharmony”. It claimed that the incident had taken place around 9 p.m. on Monday. It was also alleged that the move was to attack Father Varghese Manavalan, the vicar of the basilica.

Though the police reached the spot on a complaint from the vicar, no cases were registered. However, they registered a case later, claimed Riju Kanjookkaran, spokesman of Alamaya Munnettam. The rebel group alleged that the “set of goons” who disconnected the cable TV network were also responsible for attempting to constantly to create conflict in the archdiocese.
