The popular YouTube show India’s Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina, has landed in hot water after a controversial episode featuring content creators Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija. Guwahati Police registered an FIR against all the judges and host of the show, accusing them of promoting obscenity and sexually explicit content. The controversy erupted after Allahbadia made an inappropriate remark during the episode, drawing widespread criticism from public figures and social media users alike.

Ranveer Allahbadia’s Inappropriate Comment

During the episode in question, Ranveer Allahbadia, a popular YouTuber known as BeerBiceps, asked a contestant an outrageous question: “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?” The remark quickly went viral, prompting severe backlash for its offensive nature. Viewers condemned the lack of responsibility shown by Allahbadia and the creators for promoting such crude content without any warnings.

Public Outrage and Reactions

Author and audio storyteller Neelesh Misra criticised the creators for their “perverted” content, talking about the potential harm it could cause to young viewers. “This content is not designated as adult content — it can be easily accessed by children if the algorithm takes them there,” Misra wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate also weighed in, calling the content “perverse” and questioning why such remarks received applause from the audience.

“This isn’t creative. It’s pervert. And we can’t normalise perverse behaviour as cool,” she said. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hinted at possible action, stating that freedom of speech does not extend to encroaching on others’ dignity.

Legal Action and FIR Filing

The Guwahati Police registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Samay Raina and all judges on the show, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the development.

“The FIR accuses them of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions,” Sarma stated.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police also visited the Khar studio where the show was recorded to investigate further.

Ranveer Allahbadia Issues Apology

Following the backlash, Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology, admitting that his comment was inappropriate and lacked humour. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry,” he stated in a video posted online. He acknowledged his “lapse in judgment” and promised to learn from the experience, adding that he had no intention to disrespect families or promote offensive content.

Samay Raina’s Silence Amid Controversy

Samay Raina, currently touring the United States for his Unfiltered: North America Tour 2025, has not commented on the controversy. On Saturday, he shared photos from his San Jose show, where he performed at the San Jose Civic in California.

In the post, Raina expressed gratitude for the audience but made no mention of the legal issues or criticism surrounding India’s Got Latent.
