Rakhi Sawant reacts to Maharashtra Cyber Cell’s summons in the India’s Got Latent case, questioning its relevance.
Rakhi Sawant has spoken out after being summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell in connection with the India’s Got Latent controversy. In a video shared by a paparazzo account, the actor questioned the need for the summons, emphasizing that authorities should focus on addressing more serious issues like pending rape cases.
In the clip, Rakhi expressed her confusion over the summons, saying, “Mujhe summon bhejne ka matlab nahi hai doston. Aap mereko video call kariye, main aapke sare sawalon ka jawab dene ke liye tayaar hoon. Main ek artist hoon, mujhe paise deke interview ke liye bulaya gaya tha. Maine interview diya, kisiko galiyan nahi di. Toh mereko summon bhejne ka matlab kya hai?” (What’s the point of sending me summons? Just video call me, and I’ll answer your questions. I was paid to attend an interview and didn’t abuse anyone.)
Rakhi further highlighted the need for authorities to prioritize more pressing issues. “First, solve the pending rape cases. Main toh bhikaran hoon, mere paas ek rupaya bhi nahi hain ki aapko de saku. Main Dubai mein rehti hoon, mere paas kaam nahi hai. Har din ladkiyon ke saath balatkar ho raha hai, unke parivaron ke liye kuch karo. Unke gunahgaaron ko pehle saza do. Humne to koi gunaah nahi kiya, hum to white collar hain.” (I’m like a beggar with no money to give. I live in Dubai and have no work. Every day women get raped—have some empathy for them and their families. Punish the criminals first. I haven’t committed any crime; I’m a white-collar person.)
According to PTI, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell is investigating the case related to the YouTube show India’s Got Latent and has summoned Rakhi to record her statement on February 27. She was featured as a guest on an episode where Ranveer Allahbadia made controversial remarks about parents and sex, sparking nationwide backlash.
The investigation has already led to summons being issued to more than 50 individuals, including comedians, content creators, and influencers who participated in Samay Raina’s YouTube show. The authorities have also called Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani for questioning, with Ranveer expected to record his statement on February 24.
Meanwhile, the Gauhati High Court granted interim bail to Ashish Chanchlani while hearing his anticipatory bail plea, asking him to cooperate with the investigation within 10 days. Similarly, the Supreme Court offered interim protection to Ranveer Allahbadia, though the bench criticized his remarks, calling them “vulgar” and indicative of a “dirty mind” that shamed society.
