Rakesh Roshan said that choreographers and stunt directors also demand vans today even though they’re on set all the time.

Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has criticised the vanity van culture in Bollywood, saying that vans are unnecessary when everyone is on set at the same time. He revealed that today, not only actors but also choreographers, stunt directors, and directors demand vanity vans. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Rakesh Roshan also mentioned that despite this, he has never had a van for himself.
Reflecting on the changes in Bollywood, Rakesh Roshan said, “Our studios didn’t keep the makeup rooms to the level we used to have then. Back then make-up rooms used to be very good. But then we started making vanity vans for the main actors.”
“Now, even though the make-up rooms have improved, vanity vans are so much in fashion that you have to provide them for actors, directors, choreographers, stunt directors, etc. Those who stay on the set for 24 hours even need a vanity van now and I don’t understand why,” he added.
The veteran filmmaker mentioned, “When I used to make films, vanity vans existed even then, but I never had one for myself. If I had to go to the washroom, I would have gone to anyone’s vanity van, but I don’t understand that when you are on set all the time, then why have a vanity van?”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Rakesh Roshan is trying to develop Krrish 4 but is facing a budget crisis. In an interview with Gaana, Rakesh Roshan said that while the scale of the film is immense, he is finding it difficult to finance the film.
Rakesh Roshan said, “Kaafi saal se wait kar rahe hain lekin mera budgeting ho nahi raha hai. Picture ka scale bada hai. Scale chota karta hoon toh ek aam picture lagti hai. The world has become smaller. Aaj kal ke jo bacche hain, voh superheroes ki pictures itni dekh chuke hain ki unhe thoda sa bhi kuch fault nazar aayega toh criticise karenge.”
“We have to be very careful. Aur hum uss paimaane (Marvel, DC) ki picture bana nahi sakte hain. Itne paise hote nahi hain humare paas. Our budget doesn’t allow us… Hume kahani pe zyada concentrate karna padta hai. Halaki bade bade sequences honge picture main par agar 10 nahi honge toh 2 honge ya 3 honge,” he added. While Rakesh then assured that Krrish 4 is definitely on the cards, they are going to hold back for some time.
