Rajasthan CM takes dip in Maha Kumbh; Cabinet meeting held in Prayagraj

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma along with his Cabinet colleagues and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs took a dip at Triveni Sangam in the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Saturday (February 8, 2025). The visiting group from the State, comprising 115 members, left Jaipur for Prayagraj by a special plane in the morning.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who was also present at the Maha Kumbh site, took a dip in the confluence of rivers along with Mr. Sharma. The group from Rajasthan worshipped in a Hanuman temple at the site after performing the rituals of pilgrimage, for which they arrived at the Sangam by boats.

Mr. Sharma said the Maha Kumbh was a symbol of the culture and heritage of ancient saints and sages. “The Maha Kumbh comes with the planetary calculations. People from all over the country and from abroad arrive here for pilgrimage,” he said.

The Rajasthan government is providing free accommodation, food and medical facilities to the pilgrims from the State at a pavilion established at the Maha Kumbh site.

A Cabinet meeting was held at the pavilion, named Rajasthan Mandapam, after the pilgrimage rites, marking an official gathering during the spiritual event. Mr. Sharma and the MLAs will stay overnight in Prayagraj and will depart for Jaipur on Sunday afternoon.

The BJP legislators expressed happiness over their participation in the Maha Kumbh. Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani was one of the members of the group from the State, which included both the Deputy Chief Ministers, Diya Kumari, and Prem Chand Bairwa.

This was Mr. Sharma’s second visit to Prayagraj during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. He took a ceremonial dip at the Sangam and performed rituals on January 19.
