Alongside the untitled film, Anurag Basu is also working on Metro In Dino, the sequel to his 2007 hit, Life in a Metro.
Kartik Aaryan to star opposite Sreeleela
Kartik Aaryan is all set to feature in Anurag Basu’s next romantic drama. The film was grabbing headlines after Triptii Dimri was removed. Well, now a report is claiming that Pushpa 2-star Sreeleela is going to romance with Kartik. No official confirmation has been made till now. India Today has mentioned in its report that the film is not Aashiqui 3.
India Today quoted a source saying, “Anurag Basu’s next is already generating a lot of buzz, and the speculation around the cast only adds to the excitement. It is said that Sreeleela – the south sensation – is all set to be paired opposite Kartik Aaryan. It will be an interesting pairing to watch out for.”
The source added that Sreeleela is looking forward to beginning this new romantic adventure in her career, while her team is looking for ways to make a grand announcement soon.
Soon after it was reported that Triptii Dimri would no longer be a part of Kartik Aaryan starrer Aashiqui 3, rumours about the actress’ exit began to float on social media. It was said that Triptii was removed as the makers felt she had become ‘too exposed’ to be cast in the romantic film; the role demanded ‘purity in demeanour’ from the female lead. It was also rumoured that her bold image in Animal made it hard for her to fit into the Aashiqui world. Director Anurag Basu refuted these claims and in a new chat, opened up about the major reason behind Triptii’s exit.
Anurag Basu told the Hindustan Times, “Image was not the reason. I am the last person to judge an actor on the basis of the other characters they have played on screen. Aashiqui was not even the story anymore… I don’t know the source of these stories which came out.”
Kartik Aaryan officially announced Aashiqui 3 in September 2022. Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a sneak peek with the caption: “Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum, Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum. Aashiqui 3. This one is going to be heart-wrenching!! My first with Basu Da.” The announcement immediately generated excitement among fans. However, due to problems with the original makers of the franchise, Anurag switched lanes from the Aashiqui route and he film is no longer a part of the franchise.
Alongside the untitled film, Anurag Basu is also working on Metro In Dino, the sequel to his 2007 hit, Life in a Metro. This anthology film features an ensemble cast, including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, and Konkona Sen Sharma, promising a blend of captivating stories and standout performances.
