Actress and model Poonam Pandey has shared photos from her visit to Prayagraj. She has participated in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world. She was seen taking the holy dip in the sacred waters of River Ganga. She has reacted to the tragic stampede incident that took place at the venue and called it “unfortunate.”
Taking to her Instagram stories, Poonam shared a photo of her offering prayers with folded hands. She is wearing a black kurta which featured white prints. On Tuesday, the actress posted a video in which she can be seen struck in traffic. Reacting to the stampede which took place at Maha Kumbh in the wee hours of Wednesday, Poonam said it was ‘very unfortunate’. “Shakti bhale hi kam ho jaaye shraddha kam nahi honi chhaiye. Om Namah Shivaay,” she added.

A stampede-like situation broke out at the Sangam in the early hours of Wednesday, amid the ongoing Maha Kumbh, as millions of pilgrims turned up for a holy bath on Mauni Amavasya. Around 2 am, the blaring sirens of ambulances and police vehicles rushing to the Sangam pierced through the continuous chants of mantras and shlokas echoing from loudspeakers across the Kumbh Mela area.
Those injured were taken to the central hospital established in the Mela area. Relatives of many injured also reached there, as did some senior administrative and police officials.
According to news agency PTI, multiple casualties were feared in the incident, after which, the Akharas called off their traditional Amrit Snan for Mauni Amavasya. However, the devotees in large numbers continued to take a dip at Sangam and other ghats in the Mela area.
Being held after 12 years, the Maha Kumbh kicked off on January 13 and will continue till February 26.
Many celebrities including Anupam Kher, Remo D’Souza, Mamata Kulkarni, Guru Randhawa, Shankar Mahadeva, Kailash Kher were spotted taking holy dip.
