A large number of devotees offered flowers to the deity at the famous Arulmigu Muthumariamman temple at Tiruvappur in Pudukottai on the occasion of the Poochorithal festival on Sunday.
Many carried milk pots to the temple as part of the festival. Temple authorities said devotees from various places carried flowers from Sunday morning onwards and offered it to Goddess Muthumariamman. There was a steady stream of devotees offering flowers to the deity till the early hours on Monday.
The flowers offered to the deity were given as ‘prasadams’ to the devotees on Monday morning. The ‘Poochorithal’ festival is held in the Tamil month Maasi. Collector M. Aruna participated in the ‘Poopirithal’ event that was held on Monday morning and offered worship to the goddess. The flowers offered to the deity were given as prasadam to the Collector.
