Law Minister S. Regupathy on Wednesday said the people of Tamil Nadu would defeat the AIADMK and its leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami for suppressing the DMK government’s prompt action on crimes against women and for politicising these issues.
In a statement, he said sexual assault against women is a social issue and it is difficult to monitor the offenders as they “were actually animals masquerading as humans.” “But the police take action when complaints are received,” he said.
Recalling the remarks of the Judges of the Madras High Court appreciating the State government’s action on the sexual assault against the student of the Anna University, Mr. Regupathy said Mr. Palaniswami had failed to understand the government’s efforts.
He alleged that Mr Palaniswami was creating fear in the mind of girl students even though the police had taken action against the culprits. “When there is a complaint against the assistant headmaster in Pudukottai he was arrested and suspended. Mr Palaniswami is criticising the government only to project himself in politics,” he said.
