The Trivandrum Cyclothon, organised by the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and supported by The Hindu in School, brought together 60 enthusiastic cyclists at the Kowdiar Park on Sunday.

Former international volleyball player S. Gopinath, a retired IPS officer, flagged off the event at 6 a.m.

The event was aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and conservation, aligning with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas’s ‘Saksham 2024-25’ initiative, which carries the tagline ‘Cleaner environment through Green and Clean Energy.’

The cyclists took a 13-km route through the capital city, passing through Museum, Palayam, and General Hospital Road, before ending the rally at Shangumugham. Mr. Gopinath congratulated the cyclists and urged them to become ambassadors of energy conservation for ensuring a sustainable future.

Amaljith N., Divisional Retail Sales Head, and Lalu R.S., Senior Manager, Retail Sales, of IOCL Thiruvananthapuram, were present on the occasion. The Cyclothon was supported by local cycling clubs. Prizes were distributed at the concludion of the event.
