Speaking about how she got a chance to work with Imtiaz Ali, Parineeti stated, “I get a call from somebody saying Imtiaz Ali is making a film called Chamkila. I was like what does this sentence mean, I know everything about Chamkila. They were like you should go and try for this film. I was like why will he take me, he is Imtiaz Ali, he is making Chamkila, he will take some very big star for his film and very star is going to do this film” But, she was encouraged to at least give it a chance and hence she messaged the director.

The actress noted “He narrated the story to me, and at the end of the meeting, he was like ‘Okay, cool ya’. I was like what is happening right now. He said, you will do Amarjot. I was like no, somebody is playing a prank on me.” The actress recalled that before leaving the meeting, she has again confirmed if she was doing the film making teh director laugh out loud. She stated, “For me this was like the most perfect project on earth.”

She mentioned that, if after that meeting, they would not have taken her it would have broken her heart. Moreover, if another girl had done it, she would have been so envious since this was a picture she truly wanted to do. She stated, “It’s one for the ages. It is like what you wear proudly, like a badge of honour it is. That film is special.”
