Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal has defended his Bhooth Bangla co-star Akshay Kumar’s film choices, and addressed criticism regarding his decision to do 4-5 films in a year. He supported Akshay Kumar’s work ethic, saying that it shouldn’t be anyone’s problem if he does multiple projects a year. Over the years, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal have shared screen space in several films such as Hera Pheri, Bhaagam Bhaag, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, OMG: Oh My God, Aitraaz and many more.
While speaking with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh Rawal reflected on his friendship with Akshay Kumar. He called the actor ‘hard working’ and ‘extremely honest’. He said that there is no insecurity between them. “I know I can’t do what he does. Be it the action or being a really good-looking guy,” he said. Paresh Rawal then added, “He is not just extremely hardworking but very honest, too. There is no hidden agenda when he converses with you. The integrity is top-notch, and he is a proper family man. It feels nice to talk to him, and be around him.” When asked about the criticism against Akshay about his decision to do 4-5 films a year, Paresh Rawal said, “Honestly, what is your problem if he does so many films? People go to him to make the films, right? As a producer, I would sign an actor only if I can account for the money I am investing.”
He further defended Akshay Kumar by saying that he is just a hard-working actor who loves doing his work. “Wo kaam karna pasand karta hai. Wo smuggling toh nahi karta hai, daaru supply toh nahi karta hai. Drugs to nahi karta hai, jua to nahi karta hai. Wo kaam karta hai to kitna employment generate hota hai, wo bhi dekhiye aap. (He likes doing work. He isn’t smugging, supplying alcohol, selling drugs or gambling. And more importantly, his films are also a source of employment for thousands),” said Paresh Rawal.
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal will next be seen in Priyadarshan’s film ‘Bhooth Bangla’ which also stars Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film is scheduled for release on April 2, 2026.
