A village panchayat clerk was hacked to death allegedly by a three-member armed gang on Monday (February 3, 2025). The police suspect prior enmity as the motive for the crime.

They said the deceased, Shankar, 54, who worked as a panchayat clerk in Vaeppilaankulam, Pazhavoor, came to work on Monday morning, and as he was about to enter the office, a three-member gang, who were waiting for his arrival with deadly weapons, reportedly hacked him to the death. The assailants then escaped on a bike, the police said.

The Panagudi police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the perpetrators.
